The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index was developed by RESNET® as an industry standard for measuring the efficiency of a new home. The lower the HERS Index Score, the more efficient the home performs. Homes that score a 70 or lower on the HERS Index Scale (illustrated below) have superior energy performance, compared to a standard home.
