SkyeTec’s executive leadership has the ability to seize opportunity and quickly deliver services to help clients
achieve success. Key personnel include experts in residential building and environmental science, among others.
Collectively, the leaders have developed industrial hygiene practices using recognized standards from the New York Department of
Health, Environmental Protection Agency and Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). These protocols
have, over time, become industry standards throughout the indoor environmental industry.
Meet the Team
Chris H. Uhland -Chief Executive Officer
Since co-founding SkyeTec in 1999, SkyeTec CEO Chris Uhland has built personal and professional
relationships throughout the construction, real estate and insurance industries. Those relationships
have provided exceptional insight into each industry as well as the role of the indoor environmental
industry in each of those industries. Uhland has been published and quoted in industry publications
including Big Builder, USA Today, Builder’s Edge, Builder/Architect and the Jacksonville Business
Journal. Known for offering insightful, practical expertise on business and environmental issues, Uhland has addressed local, state, and national organizations. Uhland is a graduate of the University
of North Florida, with a Bachelors of Administration in Accounting.
An Oregon native, Uhland currently resides in Jacksonville, FL with his wife, Kristi, and children
Samuel, Emily, John and Benjamin.
Ted Nelson -President
President and co-founder of SkyeTec, Ted Nelson worked more than 8 years in the indoor environmental
industry before founding SkyeTec in 1999. Nelson has been vital in establishing SkyeTec, now a
multi-million dollar corporation, as leading environmental and building consultants to the insurance
and construction industry with an emphasis on superlative ethics and practical business development.
SkyeTec’s work to facilitate thousands of assessments and expedite the adjusting process during the
2003 and 2004 hurricane seasons, then again when Hurricane Katrina struck, has given Nelson a
unique perspective on the challenges insurers face. He has most recently applied that knowledge by
working extensively in Tallahassee with the Commercial Building Task Force and Florida Hurricane
Crisis Coalition to solve many of the issues facing insurers in Florida. Nelson obtained a Bachelors in
Administration in Accounting from the University of North Florida. Nelson currently resides in Jacksonville
with his wife, Beth and enjoys hunting, boating, and spending time with his daughter, Skye.
Paul McCracken - Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Paul McCracken brings to SkyeTec his extensive understanding of corporate
and investment finance, along with his experience in strategic planning & organizational leadership. A
graduate of Messiah College, in Grantham, PA, McCracken obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration. Upon graduation, McCracken began his career as Loan Operations Manager of the
Drovers Bank in Pennsylvania; before joining the SkyeTec team, he held the position of Chief Financial
Officer for an international manufacturing firm. McCracken provides SkyeTec with strong fiscal leadership
of external reporting, tax, treasury, risk management, and procurement functions to ensure
current and future financial stability of the company. With his strategic direction, SkyeTec has been
able to streamline their accounting and financing department, secure funds for capital acquisitions
and improvements, and enjoy a consistent increase in their bottom line. When McCracken is not
lending his expertise to SkyeTec , he enjoys spending time outdoors cycling, boating, and competing in
various triathlons, and McCracken also offers his time coaching the Varsity Women’s Volleyball team at
Mandarin Christian School. McCracken currently resides in Jacksonville with his wife, Denise, and his
children, Sara and Matthew.
Darius Grimes - Executive Director, Mitigation Services
Darius Grimes has over 25 years of construction experience with a focus on exterior remodeling and
mitigation of wind, water and weather. Grimes has been a Certified Wind Mitigation Surveyor for 5
years and was an inspector for the Residential Construction Mitigation Program in 1998 and 1999,
performing inspections for the Escambia County SHIP Program.
Grimes is considered one of the leading industry experts in wind mitigation construction and traces his
roots all the way back to 1996 as a Project Impact Partner and Participating Contractor. Grimes was
one of the original FLASH® Technical Advisory committee members that helped to craft the Blueprint
for Safety recommendations that formed the basis of the MSFH Mitigation Program. He is the author
of the Shutter Matrix Tool, which is provided to all participating MSFH homeowners with the HSRS.
Grimes regularly provides pro-bono assistance to the MSFH staff regarding technical issues related to
understanding the timing and implementation of building codes. Grimes is a Construction Industry
Licensing Board approved Continuing Education Instructor and provides CEU training for The Construction
Specification Institute, Building Officials Association of Florida, Hurricane Protection
University, American Institute of Architects, and the University of West Florida.
Grimes is also a member of the following associations related to the mitigation and the builder
environment: Escambia County Windstorm Mitigation and Energy Advisory Committee (2002 to
present), Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF), a Commission appointed Work Group
member of the Florida Building Commission (FBC), education and training chair /director and Officer
of the International Hurricane Protection Association (2005-present), President of the Construction
Specification Institute (CSI) for the Pensacola chapter (2006-2007), and is an independent research
and training consultant.
Dave Fearer, CIH - Executive Director, Diagnostics and
Industrial Hygiene Services
Dave Fearer brings 20 years of industrial hygiene experience to SkyeTec, including asbestos consulting,
indoor air quality, exposure assessments and site safety and health, radon and mold assessment,
and protocol development and standards-based environmental training. As a Certified Industrial
Hygienist, his background includes education at John Hopkins University and East Carolina's graduate
industrial hygiene program, LEED® for New Construction training and Texas state asbestos and mold
consultant licensure. Fearer managed the growth of SkyeTec’s inspection force for SkyeTec ’s Catastrophic
Response Program in response to hurricanes in 2004 and 2005. As SkyeTec’s Executive
Director of Diagnostic Services, his responsibilities include oversight of all services related to asbestos,
mold, and indoor air quality consulting; development and implementation of company policies;
and report templates for conduct of field activities.

John Uhland - Executive Director of Building
Science Solutions
John Uhland manages SkyeTec's inspection load, coordinating customer service with scheduling and
inspectors, leveraging his construction expertise to strengthen the overall program. He has worked in
the construction industry for more than 20 years, managing multi-million dollar construction projects
and payrolls. Uhland began his career installing specialized flooring systems in the United States and
abroad, with his responsibilities rapidly increasing throughout the 1980's, until he was managing
$219 million of property in Washington and Oregon. Through the 1990's, he developed his career,
eventually earning the title of VP of Operations for Norwest Contractors, Inc., where he was responsible
for all aspects of 12-18 million dollar projects.
Kristi Uhland - Director of Marketing
As the Director of Marketing for SkyeTec, Kristi Uhland oversees all marketing and public relations
activities for the four divisions of the company. Uhland’s former communications work includes a
variety of environments, such as corporate settings, start-up companies, as well as self-employment.
Uhland is a graduate of Jacksonville University with a B.A. in Communications, emphasis in Public
Relations and Advertising. Her extensive experience in all aspects of communications provides her
with knowledge of marketing research and strategies, product or service development, and implementation.
Uhland currently resides in Jacksonville with husband, Chris, and their three children, Samuel,
Emily, and John.
