June 2008 SKYETEC SPONSORS FLORIDA GOVERNOR’S SUMMIT ON GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE JACKSONVILLE, FL – JUNE 26, 2008 – SkyeTec, a leader in the Green Building consulting industry, sponsored Florida Governor Charlie Crist’s 2008 Serve to Preserve Summit on Global Climate Change. The second annual summit, held June 25 and 26 at the Miami InterContinental Hotel, focused on stimulating development of clean technologies and “greening” Florida’s business community. Industry leaders, international policy makers, environmentalists, scientists, and the business community came together to investigate prospects for developing the sunshine state’s renewable and alternative energy marketplace. In addition to being a primary sponsor, SkyeTec participated in the Green Technology Expo, where they educated over 700 attendees on their various Green Solutions service offerings for commercial and residential buildings. SkyeTec provided valuable information on their programs, including ENERGY STAR Home Energy Rating, Energy Auditing, LEED® Consulting and Building Commissioning, as well as other programs and initiatives. “We are truly honored and proud to both sponsor the Serve to Preserve Summit and contribute to Florida’s position as a frontrunner for Green Building and Energy Conservation initiatives” stated SkyeTec CEO, and Summit participant, Ted Nelson. Key events at the Serve to Preserve Summit included a keynote address by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, entitled “Green Technology Drives Green Economies.” Immediately following his speech, Governor Crist signed House Bill 7135, legislation that encompasses the largest energy and economic development in Florida’s history. Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Michael W. Sole participated in a Business Roundtable on the second day of the summit, discussing the possibilities of “going green” in the business community with more than a dozen companies. National and state executives from Coca-Cola, IBM, DuPont, Publix, Citigroup, and Microsoft participated in the discussion about upgrading business practices and investing in renewable and alternative energy technologies. During the closing ceremonies, Crist announced a new non-profit partnership to improve air travel and the subsequent environmental and economic benefits. ABOUT SKYETEC |
