Fastest Growing Company in Jacksonville, FL

The Business Journal honors SkyeTec as fastest growing company in the area.

In an award lunch yesterday at Alltel Stadium, The Business Journal (TBJ) named SkyeTec the fastest growing private company in the area.  The recognition comes after rapid growth in recent years and an unprecedented year of growth in revenue, personnel, and services at SkyeTec between 2004 and 2005.

 “SkyeTec appreciates the recognition that The Business Journal and city of Jacksonville have bestowed upon us as a company,” said Chris Uhland, SkyeTec CEO, yesterday afternoon.  According to TBJ, the competition was fierce.  To make the list, a company had to:

1. Have been operating since 2001

2. Be locally owned and private

3. Have revenue of at least $1 million each year in 2002, 2003, and 2004

4. Show consecutive growth over the period of measurement

Other companies on the list of the BJ’s Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies had growth rates ranging from 20% to 40%, and one company in particular increased its revenue from last year by $64 million.  SkyeTec has more than doubled their employees from 28 last June to 71 this month. Their growth was 207%.

“In simple terms, we owe our success to the tremendous effort of our staff and the continuous commitment by our clients,” said Uhland. Six years ago, Ted Nelson and Chris Uhland started SkyeTec as an experiment.  Nelson lent his environmental science expertise as CEO and Uhland brought 15 years experience in protocol as head of sales of the new indoor environmental consulting firm.  In 2005,
