ENERGY STAR Home Energy Raters

SkyeTec ENERGY STAR Raters Perform the Following:

• Design Review
  – Review of construction plans to determine a projected HERS rating
  – Recommendations for reaching the ENERGY STAR certification
• Thermal Bypass Check
  – Inspection of building details that may allow thermal bypass to occur due to missing air barriers
• Final Verification Inspection
  – On-site inspection, including blower door and duct tests
  – Estimates of annual energy use and HERS rating
  – Home Energy Rating for Energy Efficient Mortgages (EEMs)– SkyeTec conducts home energy rating to verify
  that a home is eligible for an EEM, which make it easier for borrowers to qualify for loans to purchase homes
  with energy-efficiency improvements.

ENERGY STAR is a program developed by the EPA to help protect the environment through the use of
energy efficient practices and products. The EPA developed ENERGY STAR to provide incentive for energy
conservation—through both public awareness and federal tax credits. To become ENERGY STAR Certified,
a certified rater inspects the home throughout construction. By quantifying a building's efficiency level and
making necessary improvements to increase performance, owners can save money and enjoy more a
comfortable and healthy living environment.
