Asbestos Surveys

The purpose of SkyeTec’s asbestos survey is to determine the presence and extent of accessible asbestos containing building materials (ACM). Our survey consists of visual observations, sampling and analysis of suspect materials, and an approximation of material quantity. A visual assessment of accessible areas of the site is conducted to determine the presence and location of ACM. Suspect asbestos containing building materials are grouped into homogenous areas based on color, texture, usage, and age. Bulk material samples are collected of each homogenous area and these samples are sent to EMSL analytical, a National Voluntary Laboratory accredited Program (NVLAP) laboratory, and analyzed utilizing EPA Method 600/R-93/116 polarized light microscopy (PLM).
