Energy Audit with HERS® Index

SkyeTec offers an extensive audit of a home’s energy performance with our Home Energy Audit with HERS® service. Nationally certified RESNET home energy raters who are also State of Florida Class 1 raters perform this in-depth analysis utilizing state-of-the-art technology.  Upon completion, a HERS® index score is provided to the customer along with a report detailing the findings and recommended improvements.

Customer Interview

A SkyeTec RESNET certified home energy rater conducts an interview with the customer to determine any major concerns they have regarding their energy efficiency level and their utility bill.

Measurements, Software, and Third Party Verification

SkyeTec has licenses for Energy Gauge, the RESNET and State of Florida approved software that are necessary to complete an energy audit with HERS.

State-of-the-Art Home Performance Testing

SkyeTec performs detailed tests on the building in order to calculate the HERS index. These tests include:

• Thermography Scanning
• Blower Door Test
• Duct Blaster Test
• Appliance Efficiency Measurements
• Roof Pitch and Insulation Level Inspection

HERS® Index

Upon completion, a HERS® Index will be calculated for the building. A HERS® Index is the nationally recognized home performance measurement system for energy efficiency. It improves a home’s resale value, provides a baseline for deep energy retrofit remodeling, and allows a person to apply for an Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM), Energy Improvement Mortgage (EIM), or trade carbon credit “White Tags”.

Home Energy Audit with HERS® Report

The Home Energy Audit with HERS® Report pinpoints specific systems in the home that may have inefficiencies. Included in the report are:

• Recommendations on improving these inefficiencies
• Costs associated with energy efficient upgrades
• Estimated savings in kWh and dollar amounts
• Project shopping list of efficient products
• No cost tips for continuous energy savings
• Financial incentives and rebates for efficient products
