The Austin City Council approved the Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance to improve the energy efficiency of Austin homes and buildings that receive electricity from Austin Energy. This ordinance took effect June 1, and requires:
- Residential homeowners to have an energy audit before selling their home
- Commercial and Multi-family properties to have an energy audit by June 1, 2011
